A Quick Look Around the Village

Here are some random pictures from around the village where we stayed. I took some of these pictures, and others were on a disk that we received from the village the day that we left. I'll go into more detail on a lot of these places in other posts, but here is just a quick run through the village.

Jacob outside our villa. The villas are all a little different design on the outside, but all the same on the inside. Each building is a duplex with a family staying in each villa.

Inside our villa. This is the full kitchen which hardly ever got used, but it was nice to have. The funny thing about the kitchen was that the plates, bowls, and cups that they had were the exact same design as what we use at home! That was a great way to make us feel right at home! Also, this is the table that we would check each night when we returned home to find our little gifts that were left for us.

I should have taken these pictures the first day instead of the last day there, but you'll get the idea. This is the front room.

The boys bedroom.

The larger of the two full bathrooms

The greatest thing of the whole place. This tub was huge. We also had a full washer and dryer and laundry detergent that came in very handy while we were there.

Ol' Elmer...the snoring tree. We would pass Ol' Elmer each morning on our way to breakfast.

Amberville train station. Each place in this village is named for a child that has stayed here at one time.

Julie's Safari Theater

Inside the theater the kids could have all the popcorn and snacks they wanted.

The inside of the theater

Some of the other villas around the place. These were a part of the fairy tale forest.

They began to decorate for Christmas while we were there. This is behind the house of hearts and in front of the theater.

Ice Cream Palace

Katie's kitchen. This place had food from Boston Market that you could order and take back to your villa or call and have it delivered. Everything in the villa was completely free of charge. It was kind of weird to get used to.

The Castle of Miracles and the Enchanted Carousel.

The Gingerbread House. This is where we ate most of our meals.

I don't remember what this place is called, but it is the building for the volunteers. The village is run almost completely by volunteers.

Marc's DinoPutt

Keaton's Korral. Twice a week they bring in horses for the kids to ride.

Mathew's Boundless Playground...the coolest playground I have ever seen.

Panoramic view of MBP

One of the many pools. This one has a zero entry area on the other side of it which was great for Annalise.

William in front of the Garden of Hope

This is Mayor Clayton's Cottage which is located in the Garden of Hope. I never did actually see this place, but i think it is cute and love that the sign says, "the Claytons".

There were a couple of other things that we saw in the village while we were there, but that I did not get pictures of. One was a lake where the kids could go fishing. We were going to go one day, but the boys decided that they would rather swim, so we stayed at the pool.

Also, each morning there was a breakfast cart that would come around and offer little breakfast items. The same cart became the "cookie cart" in the evening and came around with cookies and lemonade for everyone.

On one of the days while we were there, we were able to cheer on some runners who were running in the 2nd annual 5K and fun run through the Village. It was people who were running to raise money for the Village. I am already hoping and planning to make a trip back one year to run in the GKTW 5K. How fun would that be...and all for a very good cause!
