I really should have added this post 2 and a half weeks ago. Annalise's first full day home is kind of a blur now. There have been a whole lot of sleepless nights since that day and my brain seems to be functioning even worse than it was before. Hard to believe...I know! Hopefully these pictures will give you the highlights of that first day home.
Annalise came home with a big knot in the back of her hair. So the first thing to do was figure out a way to wash her beautiful, long hair.
A changing pad and the kitchen sink make a pretty good temporary sponge bath area.
She did really well throughout her hair washing, but by the end she was pretty tired of something...not sure whether it was the bath or the picture taking.
We have had to get creative with seating areas for her. This tumble form with a tumble form wedge in front of it with a pillow on it seems to work pretty well for a chair and play area.
Although when she gets tired of just sitting, she likes to lean way over to the side. Having these casts on is going to be really good for her core muscles!
Our sweet girl on her first day home.
Almost 2 weeks after her surgery, Annalise returned to school. The first day back, one of her teachers called me and said that she was a little sad and needed to hear my voice. She did okay after I talked to her for a bit. She sure was tired when she got home that day. Actually she fell asleep on the bus and stayed asleep through the bumpy walk home and being lifted into her bed. Last night was the first night that she has sleep through the night without medication! She has had a lot of trouble with muscle spasms since the surgery. Most of the trouble has been at night so she and I have had some quality moments together snuggling where ever she could get most comfortable.
Today was her follow up appointment with the Orthopedist. After an hour drive to Phoenix, the appointment lasted all of about 2 minutes. The doctor came in, looked at her casts, wiggled her toes a little, said she looked fine, and told us to make an appointment in 4 weeks to get her casts off. We are scheduled to go back on the 30th of October to have them taken off. That will be one day shy of 8 weeks since the surgery! We are all looking forward to it!

What a trooper that girl is. She amazes me and so do you, Tammy. Hearing about the nights of waking up several times, tugged at my heart strings. You do so much and give so much. I hope you find some time no matter how small it is to take even a moment to take care of you. I really wish we were there to help more, and I'm not just saying that. I really wish we were. Love you.
