Cayuga Splitlog Mission Church

Another day we visited the Cayuga Splitlog Mission Church. John and I had read about it on the way to the dam and thought it sounded interesting so we called about it. We spoke with a wonderful lady named Dorothy who set up a time for us to come see it. A couple of other families went with us. The church was built in 1896 by Mathias Splitlog. He built it for his wife.

The church is still used each Sunday for a non-denominational congregation. Anyone is invited to attend their meetings. Dorothy tried to convince us to come to one of their meetings, but we left on Saturday so that wouldn't work.

Here we are listening to Dorothy tell us about the church.

On the loft, we were able to pull the rope to ring the bell. Everyone seemed to enjoy this. It really took some work to get it started

Here is a picture with Dorothy. She loves this church and has taken great care of it. She was so kind to the kids. She even gave each of them a book to take with them when we left.

There is no indoor plumbing
