Jacob's Birthday Party

Saturday Jacob had his birthday party. Since we couldn't find any Wall-E decorations, he decided to have a Spider-man themed party. We thought about doing it at the park, but it would have cost us $30 to rent the little ramada there which seemed ridiculous. Plus there was already at least one other birthday party going on at the same time we wanted to have ours, so we decided to just use our great backyard instead. Jacob invited all 30 kids from his school class plus a couple from church. At the beginning I tried to talk him into only inviting a few kids, but he insisted that he invite everyone so that no one felt left out. He has always been a very caring and sensitive boy. It did make me a little nervous, although I figured a lot of the kids from school wouldn't show up! Luckily it all worked out, better than I could have even hoped for. We only had 11 kids show up and they all seemed to have a great time together. We had the entire party outside and the weather was fabulous! Sunny and 70 degrees! An outdoor December birthday...only in Arizona! I LOVE it!

As the children were arriving, John gave horseback rides around the yard. The kids loved it!

In between the official birthday activities, the kids all kept busy playing on the swing set, climbing trees, playing tether ball, and playing in the clubhouse.

Bryce totally enjoyed watching all of the festivities!
I found this cool Spider-man cake that was made up of cupcakes. It worked out great for a party...no plates or forks needed!

Jacob received many nice gifts from his friends.

They ended up playing boys against girls, but only one girl wanted to play. So it was Kaitlyn against the boys. Guess who won! Kaitlyn!!! You go girl!

Zariah looking out from the playhouse.

No party is complete without a pinata!

Addison finishing off Spider-man.

Zariah's mom helped to empty out the pinata.

A couple of kids locked themselves in the clubhouse and couldn't get out...so Spider-man saved the day by climbing in through the roof and freeing the children! Luckily it happened close to the end of the party since the kids thought that was really cool and ended up making spider-man climb in 2 more times to free them. John is such a good sport about stuff like that!

Bryce thought that watching Dad play spider-man was the best part of the whole party!
One happy birthday boy.
Happy 7th birthday Jacob!
